Ward 5 Warriors is a youth development and mentorship organization serving youth and families throughout Washington, DC. For more than 20 years our leadership team has used sports, mentorship, education, leadership development, and community engagement to help young people reach their full potential. We are more than a sports program — we are a community resource dedicated to developing future leaders.
To empower youth and strengthen communities through holistic support that nurtures mental, emotional, physical, and academic growth. Through mentorship, leadership development, sports training, mental wellness skill-building, and community engagement, we create safe and inclusive environments where young people can thrive both on and off the field.
We believe that success extends beyond athletics. Our Total Athlete philosophy focuses on developing the whole person — strengthening the mind, body, character, leadership abilities, and life skills of every participant.
STY is our youth enrichment framework focused on Mind (mental wellness, academic support, safe spaces), Body (sports training, fitness, outdoor adventures), and Future (leadership, financial literacy, career exploration, trade skills, community service).
Yes. We provide leadership development, financial literacy education, mentorship, career exploration, and community service projects designed to prepare youth for future success.
Yes. We believe strong families create strong communities. Our programs encourage family engagement, parent participation, community involvement, and access to supportive resources.
It’s a core part of the Warriors experience. Participants regularly join food drives, neighborhood cleanups, family events, volunteer projects, and community outreach activities.
Through mentorship, positive peer engagement, leadership development, structured activities, and trusted community relationships, we provide youth with opportunities, guidance, and support that reduce conflict and promote positive decision-making.
Registration is completed through our online registration portal. Families can register participants, complete required forms, submit waivers, and receive program updates through the website.
Ward 5 Warriors serves youth ages 5–18.
The Warriors Master Calendar is the official source for practices, games, parent meetings, coach meetings, community events, fundraisers, travel, and special programs.
Opportunities include mentoring, coaching, community outreach, event support, fundraising, and administrative assistance. Visit the Get Involved section to learn more.
Community members can support through donations, sponsorships, volunteer service, community partnerships, and in-kind contributions. Every contribution helps us develop youth, strengthen families, and build safer communities.
